Assistant Proactivity Program Project Coordinator

Maplewood House and MSA Manor are senior residential care facilities in Abbotsford, operated under the Maplewood Seniors Care Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in supporting individuals with chronic illness. Our around the clock residential care serves 112 clients. We also run an Adult Day Program that serve an average of 85 clients a week.

We currently have a summer job opportunities, in partnership with Canada Summer Jobs, in areas of nursing care, program & activity, general administration and special projects. These positions will be open for 12 weeks ending, August 2018.

Position Title: Assistant Proactivity Program Project Coordinator

Objective: to assist in the setup, implementation and roll out of the Proactivity Reports Recreation software. This program will be used by the recreation team at Maplewood house and MSA Manor to help aid in providing Resident-centered care programs. It helps connect the interest of residents with programs provided at our homes.

Purpose:
• To assist in providing Resident-centered care programs. It helps connect the interest of residents with programs provided at our homes.
• To develop Individual reminiscence kits using the social history collection tool, as well as, contacting family and friends to gather social history. These kits contain mementos and items that support conversation and reflection.

Wage Rate: $14.01/hr

Hours: 37.5 hours per week for 12 weeks

Reports to: Manager, Recreation/Day Programs for Aging Adults

The student will interact directly with the resident and may be required to work some evenings or weekends.

This position is suitable for a student studying in the areas of nursing, therapeutic recreation or social services, who want to pursue their careers in Health and Long-Term Care Sectors. The student will have exposure to nursing care, residential operation and other healthcare related roles and responsibilities. The student will also assist in quality improvement initiatives.

Applicants must have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.
